Indivisible Twin Cities has endorsed the full slate of DFL (Democrats in Minnesota are called “DFL”, for Democratic-Farmer-Labor) top-of-the-ticket state candidates: Senator Amy Klobuchar for Governor, Ben Schierer for Lt. Governor, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon, and Zack Filipovich for State Auditor.
The countdown to the November 3rd mid-term election is on. We are calling this “An Election Like No Other”, because frankly, it is. We heard MN Attorney General Keith Ellison speak yesterday and he reminded us that fascism isn’t coming, it’s here. We are seeing evidence of this every day. We are not only “saving democracy” as we often say, but more seriously we are fighting against authoritarianism.
We encourage our members and all Minnesotans to vote for these candidates. We expect this slate of strong leaders on the ballot to spark another record turnout of voters, as we saw in the recent primary election, and once again we will elect a Democratic Governor and state House and Senate majorities.
Our country is in peril, people are struggling to afford their lives, and many of us are worried about our own futures and the futures of our families, communities and the very planet we live on. Indivisible Twin Cities endorses this slate of candidates because:
They are eminently qualified and experienced public servants. They believe that government can be used to make people’s lives better, and act on it.
They are defenders of a robust and well-functioning democracy. Like us, they know that our democracy is in peril. They will fight for a people-powered state and country.
They will fight to protect Minnesotans. They understand the stakes. The federal government is corrupt and chaotic and is harming Minnesotans through vengeful and cruel actions.
Whether it is standing up for free and fair elections, defending Minnesotans via legal channels, or working hard to ensure that our own state government is well-run and managed fairly, with these five public servants helping to govern our state we will be in safe and competent hands.
Unity does not mean uniformity. We may not agree with these five on every position, policy or tactic, but we understand the stakes and know that our choice is clear. We are clear-eyed - politicians are not our saviors and one election doesn’t solve everything. We all need to be in it for the long-haul.
More than a million voters set a state turnout record for the August primary. Indivisible Twin Cities is optimistic that on November 3rd voters will again show up in impressive numbers to cast ballots and send a message that we want to move our state and country forward by securing a democracy for all.
Operation Metro Surge galvanized Minnesotans. Voters recognize how critical this election is. We invite voters to join us in supporting Senator Amy Klobuchar and her running mate Ben Schierer, auditor candidate Zack Filipovich and incumbents Attorney General Keith Ellison and Secretary of State Steve Simon.
